Tanintharyi Region

The Tanintharyi Region is located in the southernmost part of Myanmar, stretching along the western coast of the Malay Peninsula. It is bordered by the Andaman Sea to the west and shares a land border with Thailand to the east. The region includes major cities such as Dawei, Myeik, and Kawthaung, with Myeik and Kawthaung serving as gateways to the renowned Mergui Archipelago, a collection of over 800 islands.

Lampi Marine National Park

Lampi Marine National Park is located in the Myeik Archipelago, in the Tanintharyi Region of southern Myanmar. It is Myanmar's first marine national park and covers both land and marine habitats, with over 200 islands spread across 2,000 square kilometers.The park is renowned for its rich biodiversity, home to various ecosystems including mangrove forests, coral reefs, seagrass beds, and tropical evergreen forests.

The ideal time to visit Lampi Marine National Park is between November and April, when the weather is dry and visibility in the water is at its best, making it optimal for marine activities like snorkeling and diving.The park is home to the Moken people, an indigenous group also known as “sea gypsies,” who traditionally live a semi-nomadic lifestyle and rely on the sea for their livelihood. Visitors can learn about the Moken’s unique culture, their sustainable practices, and their deep connection to the marineenvironment.

At Lampi Marine National Park, visitors can enjoy a range of eco-friendly activities that highlight its natural and cultural wonders.
