Magway Region

Magway Region is an administrative division in central Myanmar. It is the second largest of Myanmar's seven divisions. The capital and second largest city of the Magway Division is Magway.

Mya Tha Lon Pagoda

Mya Tha Lon Pagoda is at the river bank of Magway the capital city of Magway Division. As it's in the river bank , you can have a great view to Bridge and river scenery to see other site and country. Magway is out off the beaten track in Myanmar. Highly recommended to visit Magway if you have time , especially who want to go Mrauk U by Car.

According to legend, the pagoda was initially built by a wealthy man called U Baw Gyaw and his wife. It was raised from its original height of 55.5 feet (16.9 m) to a height of 87 feet (27 m) by King Saw Lu (1077-1084) of Bagan.[1] The pagoda faced a huge earthquake in 1847 and it was rebuilt by the mayor of Magway, Min Din Min Hla Kyaw Gaung to the present height of approximately 104 feet (32 m).[2] It is famous because The Bed of Buddha is placed inside it.

Recommend to go in the evening as you can enjoy the beautiful sunset on the Ayeyarwady river and the relaxing and peaceful atmosphere on the pagoda platform, especially after the sunset with beautiful illumination on the golden pagoda.
